Betsy Nuismer

I got my Masters degree in 2014 and became a marriage therapy specialist. My post-graduate work included 3 years of training and clinical supervision to become certified in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) through the International Center for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy (ICEEFT). I continually hone my skills through advanced EFT consultation groups and peer supervision because it is extremely important to me that I give my clients the absolute best therapy I can. I am also a certified facilitator of Prepare & Enrich and Building a Lasting Connection, two programs that help premarital couples build their relationship on a strong foundation. In addition to my passion for relationship work, I also enjoy working with individuals in areas such as codependency, resentment, and depression.
When I’m not engaged with our business, I enjoy spending time with my husband, son, and friends around a bonfire, camping, fishing, hiking and swimming at the beach.

My passion is providing couples counseling and creating comprehensive services that help restore hope and connection in marriages. I have a Masters degree in counseling and have completed advanced training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) - currently the most effective and scientifically grounded therapeutic modality in existence for healing relationships. I am also a certified facilitator of the Prepare & Enrich and Building a Lasting Connection programs. Additionally, I am well versed in the areas of addiction, codependency, depression, anxiety, and self-esteem struggles.
In my free time, I love going for bike rides with my family, doing house projects, and occasionally letting myself sit on the beach and do absolutely nothing. Most of the time, however, I’m dreaming about how Betsy and I might turn West Michigan into a more vulnerable and connected place.
